Interdisciplinary Journal of Social Sciences & Public Health

Aims

The Interdisciplinary Journal of Social Sciences & Public Health (IJSPH) is a peer-reviewed, open access journal published by the NextStep Social & Public Health Research Society. It publishes high-quality, impactful research at the intersection of societal structures and global health outcomes.

IJSPH is a forum for sociologists, epidemiologists, policymakers, health economists and field advocates to cross disciplinary boundaries and work together on contemporary global health challenges.

Scope

IJSPH publishes peer-reviewed research examining how social policies, economic disparities and cultural behaviours shape global public health. We welcome original research, systematic reviews and policy briefs from any region that connect a social, economic, cultural or policy question to a health outcome.

  • Structural determinants of health: Socioeconomic status, systemic inequalities, racism, and their measurable effects on health equity.
  • Health policy and governance: Comparative analyses of national healthcare delivery, global health security and legislative interventions.
  • Behavioural health and community dynamics: Mental health, substance use, and community-led health interventions in vulnerable populations.
  • Environmental sociology and planetary health: Climate change migration, urban health disparities and environmental justice.
  • Digital health infrastructure: The social effects of telemedicine, AI in public health delivery, and digital health literacy.
